CR Civil Engineering part of the RSK Group have a great opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to join their growing team on an ongoing contract near Stafford, UK.
The successful candidate will need to be based within an hour of Stafford as there is no overnight accommodation available for this role.
The Role
Working on water sector projects across the Severn Trent region, you'll be experienced in managing site teams delivering infrastructure works in live environments managing interfaces with members of the public, clients and other trades, while ensuring the safe and effective delivery of the scheme with zero defects.
Responsibilities
Manage labour, plant, transport, and equipment on site, ensuring that all operations are carried out in a safe and legal manner and in accordance with the project plan.
Manage and monitor staff working hours.
Carry out effective Toolbox Talks, briefings, and risk assessments to ensure teams are aware of the work requirements and associated risks.
Direct teams in the construction of the works, monitoring the allocation of labour to ensure that the tasks they carry out are within their level of skill and experience and that the correct tools and equipment are being always utilised.
Ensure all company vehicle, plant and items of equipment are operated and maintained in accordance with procedures.
Complete all necessary documents and paperwork. Collate employee forms and submit timesheets in a timely manner.
Ensure the health and safety of all persons in site and that site activities do not cause adverse environmental impact.
Investigate all relevant site incidents and accidents to a suitable level to ascertain the direct and underlying causes and necessary action to prevent re-occurrences.
Manage relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers. Including subcontract labour.
Develop and motivate site teams.
Provide programme updates to planner.
Notify commercial team of requirement of contractual notifications.
Monitoring and review and performance of site staff, including undertaking performance appraisals and disciplinaries.
Key Requirements/Experience
Experience in the Water sector Infrastructure works, including streetworks is essential
Experience of leading a team
Experience of planning and organising own workload
Experience of liaising with customers and suppliers
Good verbal and written skills, able to brief teams on RAMS and daily tasks
Knowledge of health and safety legislation
Knowledge of CDM and industry requirements
Awareness of employment legislation and best practice
Computer literacy, MS Office suite
Ability to work in a fast- paced environment.
Ability to identify problems and devise solutions
Ability to meet targets and deadlines
Ability to manage a team or task in accordance with the project plan
Willingness to undertake training and development
Ability to manage customer and supplier relationships
Commercial understanding of NEC 3&4 Contracts
Ability to meet targets and deadlines, often under difficult conditions
Produce project specific RAMS
Take off materials from drawings and schedule for procurement
