We have a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice to join our Greenkeeping team at The Belfry, England’s leading Hotel and Resort. We have 320 bedrooms, Rosette standard dining, five food and beverage outlets, fantastic leisure facilities including our 20 treatment rooms & pool, and of course, what we are famous for… golf. We have an exciting year ahead at The Belfry, starting with hosting The British Masters in August 2024, and continuing with the launch of new training and development opportunities and incentives.

Our world-class golf courses have produced some of the most dramatic moments in the history of the sport. They attract players from the UK and beyond looking to relive the Ryder Cup magic, improve their game, and make use of the unrivalled state-of-the-art golfing facilities.
Greenkeeping
The Greenkeeping team looks after all three Golf Courses and the surrounding landscape at the Belfry Hotel and Resort. Due to the world-class nature of our courses, our golfers have high expectations, and we have similarly high standards for ourselves and what we deliver. We are uncompromising on our standards – ensuring our courses and our team look fantastic.
The earning potential for this role is £11 per hour, comprising a base hourly rate of £11 plus an estimated gratuity of £ per hour.
About the apprenticeship
This is a 2-year Apprenticeship within Greenkeeping, covering all aspects of the role of a Greenkeeper and completing an NVQ Level 2 with our partner college, which specializes in education and training for land-based and sports industries.
You will also be required to:
* Fully commit to the Greenkeeping apprenticeship and embrace all aspects of training and learning.
* Undertake general course maintenance daily under the direction of the Deputy Head Greenkeeper to ensure standards are met.
* Perform bunker maintenance including raking, edging, re-sanding, and debris clearance.
* Carry out mowing duties on a daily/weekly basis and operate relevant machinery following health and safety regulations.
* Perform general mowing duties on greens, tees, fairways, and rough areas.
* Assist with construction and course improvements as required.
* Represent The Belfry professionally, following all standards to a high degree.
* Adhere to all Health & Safety protocols.
About you:
Our Greenkeeping team is friendly and hardworking, with a passion for their work and the ability to work independently and as a team. We seek someone who fits our culture. No formal experience is required, but the candidate should have:
* Not completed a similar qualification at Level 2 or above.
* A desire to progress within Greenkeeping.
* An interest in outdoor work; knowledge of golf is not required but is an advantage.
* Motivation, a positive attitude, good customer service skills.
* An interest in gardening, nature, golf, or landscaping.
* A willingness to go above and beyond.
* A collaborative and inclusive approach.
