Food Technologist – Edinburgh

Alexander Steele is working with a highly regarded food manufacturer based in Edinburgh to recruit a Food Technologist to join their growing technical team.

The Role:
This is a hands-on position offering a diverse mix of responsibilities across compliance, product development, and sustainability. You’ll work closely with a highly experienced Technical Consultant and production management team, gaining exposure to all aspects of food manufacturing in a high-standard, BRCGS Grade AA facility.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with food safety, legal, and quality standards
* Maintain and update internal systems, including BRCGS and Soil Association Organic certification
* Manage quality systems such as HACCP and TACCP
* Conduct internal audits and support external audits
* Assist with new product development, from concept through to launch
* Support the business in tracking emissions and contributing to sustainability planning
* Handle customer technical queries and ensure technical documentation is accurate and up to date
* Communicate relevant legal and industry updates internally
* Contribute to technical training and management reviews
The Ideal Candidate:
* A degree in Food Quality Management or a related field is preferred (but not essential with relevant experience)
* Experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing environment (during or post-study)
* Familiarity with BRCGS standards and food labelling requirements
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach
* Eagerness to learn and take initiative within a small, fast-paced team
* Passion for working in a high-quality food manufacturing environment
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum + Benefits
