Were working with a forward-thinking organisation who are looking for a WordPress Developer to take ownership of their WordPress environment and help shape the way digital experiences are delivered across the business.
This role will suit someone whos equally comfortable working on front-end and back-end development, has an eye for design, and thrives on solving technical challenges. Youll be the bridge between design, marketing, and technical teamsensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing websites are delivered.
Responsibilities of the WordPress Developer include:
Designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress websites, themes, and plugins
Customising existing themes and plugins to meet project specifications
Collaborating with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into functional solutions
Ensuring websites are responsive, accessible, and optimised for speed and SEO
Implementing integrations with third-party tools, APIs, and e-commerce platforms
Troubleshooting issues and providing ongoing technical support
Staying up to date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and best practices
Essential Skills/Experience of the WordPress Developer:
Proven experience as a WordPress Developer or in a similar role
Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL
Experience with WordPress theme and plugin development
Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, and Gutenberg
Experience with WooCommerce or other e-commerce platforms
Understanding of website performance optimisation and SEO principles
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience with version control (Git)
Familiarity with REST APIs and headless WordPress
Knowledge of security best practices
Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
