What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Senior HR Officer REF: East Riding 5266192 Pay rate: £20.48 per hour PAYE The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Senior HR Officer to provide and promote effective and proactive advice and guidance on all Human Resources matters by interpreting policies and procedures and employment law (i.e. disciplinary, grievance, capability, ill health, harassment, general reviews, ET’s and TUPE). This role is initially for 2 - 3 months, with the potential to be extended to up 20 24 months, for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Provide a professional and proactive approach to ensure the council takes the necessary steps to meet current and future employment legislation requirements. Provide a professional and proactive approach to ensure that the Council takes the necessary steps in relation to transformational change, restructures and reviews, in keeping with current and future employment legislation requirements. Understand and apply local and national terms and conditions of service, policies and practice to ensure consistent implementation and management of HR issues across the Council. Implement relevant and appropriate practices on a range of Human Resources issues, ie, recruitment, retention, job evaluation, employment policies and disciplinary, grievance, capability, ill health, harassment, general reviews, ET’s and TUPE, etc Manage, lead, support and develop Human Resources Officers and less experienced HR staff to help meet section and team objectives and that performance measures are met. What the client is looking for: Relevant professional qualification at degree level and/or demonstrable experience at a comparable level within a related professional field of expertise Demonstrate broad based Human Resources experience in a large multifunctional organisation with an emphasis on employee relations (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, harassment, service reviews, and TUPE etc). Ideally previous experience of working within local government or a large public sector organisation Worked at a senior level. Demonstrates a level of knowledge, understanding and ability to support others. Experience of undertaking transformational change, restructures and reviews keeping with relevant employment legislation requirements. Successfully negotiated change, involving trade unions.
