Payroll & HR Officer
Location: WatfordHours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm or 8.30-5.30pm (40 hours per week, office based)Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)

The Role:We’re looking for an organised and proactive Payroll & HR Officer to join this busy builders merchants HR team in Watford. This role is primarily payroll-focused, ensuring that timesheets and reports are created and maintained accurately. The role will also include some HR administrative duties. You'll play a vital part in ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time, while also supporting key HR functions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain payroll records and handle payroll queries from employees and resolve discrepancies
* Maintain employee records, contracts, and personal details.
* Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies
* Process end-to-end payroll spreadsheets with accuracy and confidentiality
* Work closely with key stakeholders to minimise discrepancies
* Manage the HR inbox and respond to queries in a timely manner
* Handle employee absence, sickness, and holiday records
* Maintain and check employee documentation and licenses
* Assist with HR admin including holiday approvals and system updates
* Support internal reporting and compliance tasks
* Use Excel and in-house systems to manage data efficiently
