Job Description:
Velonetic, a joint venture between DXC Technology, the International Underwriting Association (IUA), and Lloyd’s of London, has been operating for over 20 years in the London market, handling insurance and reinsurance transactions worth over £101 billion. We are developing a new digital platform to enhance transaction processing efficiency and speed, enabling our customers to focus on innovation and higher-value activities.
We are seeking a talented Enterprise Data Architect with a proven track record in defining and delivering innovative data strategies using cutting-edge technology for end-to-end data lifecycle management.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Data Modelling, Data Architecture, and Data Analytics, with a clear understanding of the importance of accurate, accessible data to support business decisions and revenue growth through reporting, analytics, and optimization.
As part of our Enterprise Architecture team, the Enterprise Data Architect will be responsible for defining and governing solutions for a digital transformation program. This initiative aims to deliver a new API-enabled platform providing open access to an ecosystem of insurance companies, service providers, and product vendors, enhancing data accuracy, reducing manual processing, and providing real-time and analytical insights.
Responsibilities:
* Define and manage an Enterprise Data Strategy aligned with business objectives.
* Conduct analysis of business processes and requirements to produce high-quality Logical Data Models, collaborating with stakeholders and standards organizations for approval.
* Customize industry-standard Logical Data Models to fit specific business domains.
* Document and maintain the business value chain for enterprise data.
* Analyze business processes to identify key data dependencies and document end-to-end data flows.
* Collaborate with development teams and technical architects on service architecture design, API contracts, and data models.
* Work with Business Analysts to analyze system behavior, data models, and business processes to facilitate data mapping and system integration.
* Design data models and patterns for data exposure, supporting analytics, BI, MI, and reporting.
* Coordinate with external standards bodies to define messaging standards.
* Understand and document data entity lifecycles and define non-functional data requirements.
* Work with Security Architects to establish data security classifications.
* Establish and oversee data governance frameworks for the program.
Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in defining and gaining approval for high-quality Logical Data Models in complex stakeholder environments.
* Stakeholder management experience, including with senior stakeholders, third-party partners, and standards organizations.
* Experience working with industry-standard data models and extending them to support business needs.
* Knowledge of insurance domain data models, including commercial insurance.
* Experience with diverse technical domains, from microservices to legacy systems.
* Expertise in logical-to-physical data mapping and large-scale data transformation projects.
* Experience in data migration planning and execution.
* Proficiency in designing and implementing BI/MI, analytics, and machine learning on large datasets.
* Knowledge of data security policies, regulatory compliance, and governance processes.
* Experience working with external standards organizations and familiarity with the TOGAF framework.
