The Role:
Exciting opportunity for a hands-on Data Architect with solid data architecture skills and a good understand of data modelling, BI and reporting to take ownership of the data platform for a scale up FinTech business.
This will suit someone who is strong with data modelling (relational, dimensional, finance industry specific models like FSLDM) and likes learning and building new solutions to complex data challenges using cloud technologies. This will role will own the enterprise data Lakehouse built on Databricks and data modelling for all layers in a medallion architecture.
This role is business facing and requires good stakeholder management and communication skills, able to quickly acquire new skills and take ownership of a complex, multi-layered data platform. You will be working closely with the business analysts, data engineers and data scientists to build and maintain a complex data platform environment which is fundamental to the business success.
Any experience with financial services, core banking platforms, credit card, credit risk analytics, general ledger and accounting systems is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
* Own the data architecture across multiple data platforms, AWS and Databricks
* Own the data lakehouse platform and maintain the data models for all layers of FSLDM
* Lead the data modelling of diverse datasets and hands on development of the database
* Build an understanding of the business process and be able to translate this into the data models
* Translate business requirements into technical requirements and architectural diagrams
* Become the subject matter expert for all company data, master data, reference data
* Be part of the operational support of the data platform to ensure a reliable service
* Track and communicate issues with the data platform to the technology leadership team
* Document the delivered solutions at the technical and business level
* Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
* Database modelling and deploying database schema changes
* Cloud platforms and serverless computing (AWS, Databricks)
* Data analytics on cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or GCP
* Understanding complex SQL queries to interrogate data and join datasets
* Data governance initiatives: lineage, masking, retention policy, data quality
* Modern BI tools and semantic layer: PowerBI
* Creating and documenting technical design specifications
* Experience in working in virtual teams and being in constant collaboration
* Ability to work unsupervised and take ownership for key services
Nice to Have:
* Experience with ETL architectures and tools, including integration with APIs and coding Python data pipelines
* Team leadership skills for managing tasks and conducting stand-ups
* Knowledge of reference/master data management
* Understanding of data governance initiatives such as lineage, masking, retention policy, and data quality.
