The Senior Corporate Health and Safety Specialist will support Burns & McDonnell's Integrated Management System, liaising with the Project and Site Management team and Corporate Offices. This position is responsible for providing professional Health & Safety leadership and oversight as a key resource for Safety & Health compliance and delivering business H&S improvement actions. The position is also responsible for conducting H&S audits in accordance with our annual Audit & Inspection schedule: - Plan and execute corporate and project Health & Safety initiatives and campaigns in order to sustain a safe, healthy, and incident-free work place. - Draft policies and procedures and rewrites, maintaining compliance to legislation and industry standards, and addressing continual improvement. - Manage all aspects of health and safety at multiple project sites; to ensure legal and contractual compliance by employees and subcontractors. - Collaborate with health & safety personnel supporting projects to assure operations are planned and conducted in a safe manner. - Identify organisational and project specific health and safety issues for resolution. - Provide advice, guidance, and direction to personnel regarding health and safety issues and work practices. - Conduct assurance activity (monitoring, inspections and audits) to drive continuous improvement on projects, with business functions, systems and processes. - Document and resolve items which require immediate correction. - Prepare and cascade specific health and safety information to corporate and project locations. - Assist the business and projects in the implementation of the health and safety goals, objectives and results. - Design and deliver training as required. - Lead accident, incident and near miss reporting and investigation and the implementation of corrective measures, as appropriate. - Prepare and present health and safety business updates and performance reporting, as required - All other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Relevant health and safety qualifications, such as Bachelor's Degree and/or NEBOSH Diploma(s) - 7 years' relevant experience in field of health and safety - Strong knowledge of the electricity and construction industry and associated standards - Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. - NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety - Full driving licence Strongly Recommended - Working Knowledge of Electricity in Construction, (Cabling, Transmission, sub stations), - Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment - Good knowledge of ISO certificated management systems and experience of writing policy and procedures - Qualified auditor - Understanding of incident investigation techniques Desirable - NEBOSH Diploma - Chartered or working towards chartership of a relevant professional Institution (e.g. IOSH etc.). - Experience of delivering presentations, training etc. - The ability to thrive in pressure situations. - Proactive and pragmatic approach - The ability to empathise, communicate and influence key stakeholders. - Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills. - A passion for health and safety improvement and sustainable outcomes. - Be able to work on own initiative. - Computer literate Job Safety & Health Primary Location GB-Birmingham UK-Birmingham Schedule: Full-time Travel: Yes, 20 % of the Time Req ID: 252638 Job Hire Type Experienced LI-JA UKO N/A
