Exciting opportunity for a Deputy Quality Manager
Alderley Lighthouse Labs has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Quality Manager to join our team at our state-of-the-art laboratory based in Cheadle Park. This is a permanent, full-time role working between the hours of 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
Job Summary
The post holder is to assist the Quality Manager in providing management, co-ordination, administration and monitoring of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) in place in accordance with the appropriate regulatory standards (e.g. current ISO in Alderley Lighthouse Labs (ALHL).
They will assist the senior laboratory management teams in implementation, development and co-ordination of quality processes and ensure via relevant monitoring that the systems implemented are robust and operationally effective. A team approach to the sharing of best practice across all departments of the lab is strongly encouraged.
The post holder will be delegated some of the managerial responsibility for the QMS, regularly reporting performance of the labs in all delegated areas back to the Quality Manager. The post holder will also maintain close communication with the laboratory directors and/or clinical leads in delegated areas to ensure these responsibilities are co-ordinated and managed with other Departmental Objectives. The post holder will be given authority to implement recommended actions and measures to ensure an effective quality management system, including audits and monitoring, is in place. The post holder will report to the Quality Manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Undertake internal audits including requirement to plan and organise workload and timescales. Provide basic support to ALHL staff undertaking internal audits.
2. To support review of controlled documents associated with the department.
3. Monitor document control within the QMS and maintain associated paper and electronic databases.
4. Produce spreadsheets and maintain templates for use in audit, providing reports as required.
5. Input and assess data on various risk management software used by ALHL. This includes entries for the risk register, incidents and complaints. Alert managers to problems or issues.
6. Monitor documentation records within the QMS software system to ensure data for all aspects of the QMS is stored and maintained appropriately.
7. Support the Quality manager with plan for closure of remedial, corrective, and preventative actions including root cause analysis.
8. Able to use judgement when identifying solutions to issues.
9. Support senior management with the preparation of data collation for external visits i.e., UKAS, MHRA and HTA.
10. Provide data in format of predefined reports for quality and QC meetings.
11. Attend and/or act as secretary for meetings related to quality management system, including taking minutes as required.
12. To communicate with all staff within ALHL and customers as required to ensure that effective communications are maintained.
Person Specification
Essential
* Previous experience in a Diagnostic Laboratory Quality Assurance Team working with ISO standards or 17025)
* Experience of conducting audits and producing reports relating to corrective actions.
* Ability to work with MS Office programs and general good IT skills.
Desirable
* Experience of UKAS assessment processes.
* Use of an eQMS system.
* Experience in managing quality objectives across multiple departments.
