Job Opportunity: Site Manager – Roofing Projects (Council Works)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee council-led roofing projects in and around Duns, Scottish Borders. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to local authority standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage all site activities related to roofing and associated works.

Coordinate trades, subcontractors, materials, and plant.
*
Liaise with local council representatives, tenants, and stakeholders.
*
Enforce health & safety compliance (RAMS, site inductions, toolbox talks).
*
Maintain detailed site records including daily diaries, progress reports, and site audits.
*
Monitor programme and budget performance, reporting any issues proactively.
*
Ensure high standards of quality control and workmanship.
Essential Requirements:
*
Proven experience as a Site Manager, ideally in roofing or building envelope projects.
*
Background in council / local authority or public sector works preferred.
*
SMSTS / SSSTS, First Aid, CSCS (Black or Gold Card desirable).
*
Strong organisational and leadership skills.
*
Able to communicate effectively with site teams, council clients, and residents.
*
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the region.
Desirable:
*
Experience in heritage or occupied property projects.
*
Knowledge of Scottish construction regulations and council procedures
