Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking to employ an enthusiastic and motivated person to manage the operational delivery of the Material Recover Facility in Barrow‑in‑Furness within the waste and streetscene service. The role is to ensure that the site is compliant with its permits and operates legally, that material is processed or sent for processing appropriately, and that staff are supported and managed to ensure effective and efficient operations.

The role requires a flexible approach to the work with a wide range of different people, and a high level of commitment to delivering an excellent service is essential. The nature of the work means that the post holder will come into contact with a range of people, so good communication and negotiating skills are required, along with the ability to manage people and to effectively procure and manage contracts. There is the option to job‑share in this role should the candidates require it, and it would also be considered for career development.
