About This Role
Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more. George Salter Academy seeks a creative and highly organised Catering Manager with excellent culinary skills to lead our busy school kitchen and deliver a high‑quality, healthy, and enjoyable food service to students and staff.
The role is 35 hours per week, term time plus two additional weeks. It is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional passionate about fresh food, nutrition and an outstanding dining experience in a secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day‑to‑day running of the school kitchen and dining service.
* Plan and prepare healthy, balanced menus that meet school food standards.
* Lead, motivate and supervise the catering team to ensure a positive working environment.
* Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety and allergen management practices.
* Manage stock control, ordering and budgeting in line with school requirements.
* Ensure meals are delivered efficiently during busy service periods.
* Liaise with school leadership to support whole‑school events and functions.
About You
* Proven experience in catering management or a similar supervisory role.
* A relevant food hygiene and catering qualification (e.g., Level 3 Food Hygiene).
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* The ability to lead a team and work well under pressure.
* A commitment to promoting healthy eating and providing excellent service.

Hours – 35 hpw, term time plus 1 week (training days) and 1 week (additional days).
Grade – Grade 6: SCP 20 – 25.
Location – George Salter Academy, Davey Road, West Bromwich, B70 9UW.
Contract – Permanent.
