HR Manager (Bedfordshire)
Location: Dunstable (Hybrid up-to 2-days per week working from home) plus travel.
Salary: £40,816 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Annual Leave: 27 days, plus public holidays
At The Bedford College Group, we are committed to delivering exceptional education and supporting our people to thrive. We are now looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead our HR Advisory service across Bedfordshire and play a key role in shaping a high-performing, people-focused organisation.
About The Role
This is a pivotal leadership role within our People function, responsible for delivering a high-quality HR service that supports leaders, managers and employees across the Group.
You will lead and develop a team of HR professionals, ensuring the effective management of employee relations, workforce challenges and organisational change. Alongside this, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing clear, pragmatic and commercially focused HR guidance.
You will also play a key role in driving consistency, strengthening management capability and embedding a culture that puts students at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the HR Advisory team, ensuring a professional, responsive and high-quality service
* Oversee employee relations activity across your area, including complex and high-risk cases
* Act as a trusted advisor to managers and senior leaders, providing expert HR guidance and coaching
* Drive performance, accountability and development within the HR team
* Ensure compliance with employment legislation, policy and best practice
* Support organisational change including restructures, TUPE and workforce planningLead on Employment Tribunal cases and liaise with legal advisors where required
* Embed consistent HR practices and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
* Support the delivery of the People Strategy and wider organisational priorities
* Promote a positive, inclusive culture aligned to the Group’s values
About You
We are looking for a confident and credible HR professional who can operate at pace and with impact.
You Will Bring
* Proven experience in an HR management or senior advisory role
* Strong employee relations expertise, including complex case management
* Experience of leading and developing teams
* Excellent knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
* The ability to influence, challenge and support managers at all levels
* A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational skills
* A commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and delivering a great service
* CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) is essential. CIPD Level 7 is desirable
