Location: Abbeyfield House, 120 Moss Lane, Bramhall, Stockport, SK7 1EE

Role: Cook - Bank (casual) position

Pay: £13.24 p/h


Responsibilities

* Be a Cook with a relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene, or be prepared to obtain one within the first three months in the role. Demonstrate experience in cooking varied, healthy and safe meals for large groups (twelve or more, up to 20) on a regular basis.
* Communicate and interact well with people, work productively as part of a team, and read/write to a good standard in a modern working environment.
* Be methodical and highly organised; keep the kitchen and equipment clean and tidy, with an effective stock rotation system.
* Demonstrate empathy and understanding of the nutritional needs of older people.


About You

* In consultation with residents and staff, create healthy balanced menus with choices reflecting residents’ needs and preferences.
* Plan, prepare and cook meals from the agreed menu, considering personal preferences or recognised dietary requirements (e.g. diabetes).
* Ensure a safe and sufficient supply of catering products by developing a system for ordering supplies in a timely manner and maintain stock control with documented orders for audit purposes.
* Maintain effective stock rotation and control to manage catering costs within the agreed budget.
* Ensure safe and proper use of catering equipment, report defects to management, and adhere to kitchen cleaning procedures and Environmental Health standards.
* Comply with COSHH requirements and keep all COSHH assessments under review; participate in and supervise related records for food safety.


Pay & Benefits

* Competitive pay aligned with those of employed staff in similar roles, as per casual (bank) worker assignment.
* Leave accrual at an equivalent rate of 31 days paid leave in a full calendar year, inclusive of bank/public holidays (pro rata).
* Mandatory training provided to start, with ongoing mandatory training required for future assignments.
