HR Officer - Bruton, Somerset £35,000 per annum plus annual performance bonus and fantastic benefits Based onsite Your role We are looking for an engaging, methodical and organised HR Officer to deliver an efficient, legally compliant, timely, accurate, consistent and proactive HR Operations support across the estate, whilst ensuring continuous improvement and efficiency of processes. The ideal applicant will have experience of working in a busy and changing environment, can remain composed under pressure and can work with a high level of autonomy. They should have a good knowledge of HR Employment law, HR reporting requirements and compliance. This role requires a process minded applicant, who has a strong grasp of figures, reporting and attention to detail. Payroll knowledge and experience would also be desirable. The HR department at the Newt manages employees across a wide variation of different departments, the right candidate would find the cross industry environment exciting and be curious to learn about the different businesses. The role will also be involved in more HR Generalist work where required, so a varied generalist HR background would be advantageous. Up to 30 days annual leave each year for our full-time team Key Responsibilities: Supporting the Payroll Manager with management, process and accuracy of payroll information. Ownership of the full employee lifecycle from onboarding including creation of contracts through to termination, ensuring continual review and change to meet requirement of the business. Setting up of new employees on HR Systems and associated new starter documentation, including but not limited to offers, contracts, relevant security checks, references. Ensuring relevant eligibility to work documents are maintained for employees in line with UK legislation. Managing any changes to employee T&C's or contract amendments through an authorised and efficient process. Reporting and management of absence levels and Long term sickness cases across the estate, liaising and supporting managers with a measured process. Compiling, maintain and updating Staff Handbook, Contracts of Employment and other HR template letters Implementing and changing HR procedures or processes as required Producing any HR operations reports to support managers, board reports and any statutory requirements for data relating to employees. Lead Responsibility for the management and continual update of the HR Management System Supporting managers with HR policy and procedure, including investigatory/disciplinary/grievance process. Skills and Experience This position will require a strong process driven mind set, a willingness to engage and negotiate, and have a strong people focus and approach. Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3 years' experience gained within a HR environment Either fully or partly CIPD qualified - Level 5 is desirable Able to make decisions and have the confidence to carry them out. Demonstrable experience in advising managers and staff about HR policies and processes. Knowledge of HR best practice and workplace trends. Working knowledge of employment law. Strong communication skills and a big team player Experience of dealing with employees in at all levels in a sometimes-challenging environment Strong Verbal and Numerical skills Ability to perform in a continually changing environment An understanding of business with guests and/or customers would be an advantage Where you'll be working - The HR Team The team at the Newt are what makes it such a special place to visit and work.
