You will be a key member of the HED Team, collaborating with data scientists, analysts and business managers to develop and maintain HED system websites. Main duties
In your role as a developer in the HED team, you will:
* Apply advanced skills in .NET web application development and MS SQL Server products to tackle technical problems.
* Develop new skills and work within a close-knit, enthusiastic, and highly effective team with a strong ethos of personal development.
* Showcase people and project management skills and experience as you line manage and mentor junior developers while working in sprints.
* Empower clinical and non-clinical end users across the NHS by building application functionality to meet national and local requirements for the HED system.
Our team is based at Yardley Court with easy access to public transport. We offer a flexible working policy (including compressed hours, hybrid office/home working, or the option to buy/sell annual leave) and a pension from day one.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
* Desirable: Evidence of further professional development; Microsoft Office certification; Microsoft Certified in SQL Server.
Experience
* Essential: Demonstrable experience in Transact SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Database Design, Web Development; substantial experience in software design, development and support for complex systems; experience of analyzing and presenting complex information; web technologies including HTML and JavaScript; experience with Visual Studio; experience in a response-critical environment; developing applications using ASP.NET C#, MVC, Web Forms and JavaScript; interfacing between systems using XML or similar; knowledge of XML, XSLT, and JSON; understanding of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
* Desirable: Experience handling large datasets; experience managing others’ workloads; NHS Data Dictionary and data definitions knowledge; NHS care structures and information flows; health data governance knowledge; interest in informatics, analytics, and programming; knowledge of NHS policies and Informatics strategy.
Additional Criteria
* High-level computer system analysis, design and programming skills; ability to deploy new hardware and software; excellent programming skills in VB.NET, C# and ASP.NET; understanding of OOP; excellent communication and documentation skills; proactive and flexible; strong workload management and leadership potential; ability to work with minimal supervision and to supervise others; relationship-building and ability to present to less-technical audiences; teamwork; initiative; problem solving; attention to detail; knowledge sharing and integrity; willingness to work flexibly and innovatively.
