We lead the UK’s diplomatic, development and consular work and employ around 17,000 staff in our global network. Our Information and Digital Directorate provides the digital, data and technology services needed to achieve our ambitions. The Data Architecture Function defines the processes that govern data used for analysis and reporting.
Your role with us
In this hands-on role you’ll work toward becoming an expert in one or more core FCDO data domains, focusing on understanding, cataloguing and modelling data, data flows, metadata and data interactions. You’ll collaborate with product delivery teams and technical architects to ensure systems and data are correctly designed, and support the delivery of data architecture principles, standards, processes and tools. You’ll gain experience across a multi-cloud infrastructure and work with data professionals across the organisation and the UK government.
Who we’re looking for
* Proactive communicator who can explain complex data concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Confidence to consult, advise and influence to ensure data products meet objectives and standards, and are future-proof.
* Strong technical understanding of data modelling frameworks, tools and techniques.
* Ability to identify and apply existing patterns, design new models for complex, multi-cloud environments, and consider dependencies across business areas and data domains.
* Ability to define, develop and promote data standards and advocate for consistent design. Willing to work with delivery teams to ensure high-quality standards.
