Role Overview
The HR Officer serves as a business partner and a key member of the Human Resources Team. This position works closely with HR team members, leadership, and employees to ensure that all people‑related aspects of the workforce lifecycle are professionally delivered and compliant with legal and company policies.
Purpose of the Role
* Provide HR advice on key issues such as disciplinary, grievance, and capability.
* Support managers in disciplinary, grievance, and appeal hearings.
* Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
* Recommend process improvements.
Operating Environment & Working Hours
Monday – Friday 08:30 to 17:00, with flexibility to cover twilight shifts when required. Predominantly office‑based but may require visits to the factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
* Provide appropriate HR advice on disciplinary, grievance, and capability matters.
* Support managers in hearings and investigations.
* Ensure fair application of policies.
* Recommend improvements.
Absence Management
* Apply the attendance procedure in line with the Absence Policy.
* Provide advice and guidance on absence cases.
* Liaise with Occupational Health providers.
* Help managers meet KPIs for reducing absence levels.
Headcount / Recruitment
* Collaborate with managers to manage headcount requirements.
* Partner with the Resourcing Team for timely recruitment.
* Assist with recruitment of skilled and managerial roles.
* Ensure Right to Work documentation is checked.
Learning and Development
* Support development and delivery of training programs.
* Identify training needs and tailor programs.
* Partner with managers to identify development opportunities.
* Assist in designing managerial capability programs.
* Promote mentorship and coaching opportunities.
Communication
* Produce and manage KPI information and reporting.
* Act as point of contact for colleague queries.
* Facilitate regular communication methods with colleagues.
What We Are Looking For
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law.
* CIPD qualified or part‑qualified (Level 5).
* Experience in manufacturing or fast‑paced HR role.
* Understanding of learning and development strategies.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Drive to improve performance and deliver results.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR packages.
* Methodical, detail‑oriented, working at pace.
* Strong relationship‑building skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage conflict.
* Time‑management and prioritisation.
* High personal integrity, respect, empathy, honesty.
