We are currently seeking 3 experienced Freelance Site Managers to support works delivered under the NGED framework across multiple sites throughout the Midlands. This role will focus primarily on 132kV substation renewals and upgrades, requiring a proactive individual capable of managing multiple work fronts and coordinating project delivery safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities - Oversee day-to-day site operations across multiple substation sites within the Midlands region. - Manage and supervise works associated with 132kV substation renewals, including civil, electrical and infrastructure elements. - Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with NGED standards, procedures, and safety requirements. - Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers to maintain programme and quality standards. - Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure strong health & safety compliance. - Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to ensure smooth project delivery. - Monitor progress across sites and provide regular updates on programme, risks, and resource requirements. - Maintain site documentation including RAMS, permits, and inspection records. Requirements - Proven experience as a Site Manager within the power / utilities sector. - Demonstrable experience delivering 132kV substation works or high-voltage infrastructure projects. - Experience managing multiple sites simultaneously. - Strong understanding of NGED procedures and framework delivery (highly desirable). - Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills. - Essential Certifications - SMSTS - CSCS (Black or Gold Card) - First Aid at Work - Full UK Driving Licence Desirable - National Grid / DNO experience - Temporary Works Coordinator - SSSTS / additional H&S qualifications What’s on Offer - Long-term freelance opportunity within a major NGED framework - Opportunity to work on critical 132kV infrastructure upgrades - Competitive day rate and consistent pipeline of work across the Midlands
