Externals Site Manager

Salter Grange is partnering with a leading main contractor delivering high-quality design & build schemes across London and the South East.
Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced Externals Site Manager to oversee all external works on a major development.
This role is ideal for a Site Manager with a strong background in external packages, façade works, envelope coordination, and public realm delivery.
Role Summary
As the Externals Site Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all external works—including groundwork interfaces, façade installation,
envelope completion, roofing, cladding, windows, brickwork, landscaping, and external areas through to handover.
You will work closely with project leadership and subcontractors to maintain programme, quality, and safety standards across all external phases.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day delivery of all external packages:
façades, cladding, SFS, roofing, brickwork, render, glazing, balconies, insulation, groundworks interfaces, and external landscaping.
Coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the senior site team.
Ensure high-quality workmanship with consistent inspections and snag management.
Manage logistics for external works, including access, lifting, scaffolding, and material deliveries.
Maintain strict health & safety compliance, ensuring RAMS are followed at all times.
Work closely with the engineering team to ensure accurate setting-out and build tolerance checks.
Identify risks, clashes, or delays early and assist in implementing solutions.
Oversee waterproofing, fire-stopping, and envelope integrity checks.
Support sequencing, short-term planning, and look-ahead programmes for external phases.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as an Externals Site Manager, Envelope Manager, or Façade Manager with a main contractor.
Strong technical understanding of façade systems, roofing, external structures, and envelope coordination.
Experience delivering external works on large-scale residential, mixed-use, or commercial developments.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to drive subcontractor performance.
Solid knowledge of health & safety legislation and construction compliance requirements.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
