Python Developer - Infrastructure - VMWare - 12 month contract - Glasgow Hybrid (3 days onsite)

I am looking for someone who wants to be part of a specialist engineering team leading a major transformation programme for a client in Glasgow. You'll have the chance to build and automate large-scale virtualisation platforms, working with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and related technologies to deliver reliable, scalable solutions across a global environment. Key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing automation for enterprise-scale virtualisation environments. Developing Python-based tooling and Ansible playbooks to streamline installation, configuration, and management processes. Building and integrating APIs to enable on-demand infrastructure services. Testing, validating, and certifying new hardware and software components. Working with stakeholders to define requirements and design robust technical solutions. Delivering projects to deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on quality and security. I am therefore keen to speak with candidates who have Significant experience using Python to automate infrastructure processes. Hands-on knowledge of Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices. Solid understanding of VMware technologies, ideally VCF and/or vSphere. Strong grounding in networking and operating systems (Linux, TCP/IP, DNS). Experience with API integration and hybrid infrastructure environments. Familiarity with modern development practices including version control and CI/CD. Desirable extras: VMware suite expertise (VCF, vSphere, vSAN) in greenfield and brownfield settings. Knowledge of infrastructure testing approaches.
