Hours of Post: 37 hours per week term time only plus 5 days

The Governing Body of Haslam Park Primary School wish to appoint an outstanding team member who will undertake the role of Learning Mentor/Pastoral Officer. This role is integral to maintaining good attendance, delivering therapeutic interventions and supporting pupils and their families to overcome barriers to learning so that they can embody our values of “Explore, Learn and Grow.”
The successful candidate will be resilient, ambitious, pro-active, enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated. An ability to build successful relationships with parents, pupils and all professionals is essential.
The successful candidate will:
Have high expectations of children’s behaviour and attainment
Have thorough knowledge of “Working together to improve school attendance”
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Have recent and relevant experience of working with children
Have an excellent understanding of the trauma informed approach
Have experience of working with external agencies
Be organised and flexible with the ability to work independently
Be hardworking and a motivational team player
Be able to play a leading role in “Early Help” Provision
Be able to be a key member of the safeguarding team
Be able to bring parents “on board” demonstrating support and challenge

What we are looking for:
You will be part of a skilled, friendly and supportive team and will work closely with a wide range of professionals
You will be organised, a good communicator and will have a sound knowledge of working with children, young people and their families. We are looking for individuals who have an excellent understanding of family work and of working with people with adverse childhood experiences
You will remain resilient - leading attendance in a primary school is not without its challenges!
You will never give up on our families and will be relentless in your drive to secure excellent attendance for every single pupil
Your practice will be research led and you will bring innovative strategies to school
You will be able to have difficult conversations where necessary but also be a trusted staff member that parents will open up to
You will understand the need to support parental engagement within our school
You will see the value of developing parents as partners in learning and will organise learning classes for parents/carers
There may be occasions where you will need to work outside of usual hours
