Lead Site Manager - Chatham, Kent (New Build Retail) Rate: £300 - £320 per day | Location: Chatham, Kent (ME4) Start: March / April 2026 | Duration: Minimum 8 Months Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting a Lead Site Manager on behalf of a specialist Construction Management company. This is a contract role (minimum 8 months) to take full ownership of a new build retail project in Chatham, Kent, managing the scheme from groundworks through to handover. The Role We are looking for a manager who acts as a "Project Lead"—someone capable of running the site autonomously as the No.1, reporting to a visiting Contracts Manager. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the build. Key challenges will include managing the initial groundworks phase, steel frame erection, and the fast-paced internal fit-out. You must be technically minded and comfortable solving problems on site without constant supervision. Key Responsibilities Site Leadership: Manage all daily site operations, health & safety, and sub-contractor coordination. Groundworks & Civils: Oversee drainage, foundations, and service connections (technical knowledge here is vital). Shell & Core: Manage the steel frame and external envelope packages. Client Handover: Ensure the project is delivered on time and to the client's snag-free standard. Documentation: Maintain accurate site diaries, RAMS, and progress reports. Requirements Essential: Valid Black CSCS Card (Manager). Essential: Proven experience as a No.1 Site Manager on New Build Retail or Commercial projects. Essential: Strong technical knowledge of Groundworks and "out of the ground" construction. SMSTS and First Aid. Local to Chatham/Medway area (preferred).
