40 hours per week on average, Monday - Friday (core) with flexibility based on business needs.
Role Definition
Reporting to the site HR Manager, the HR Officer is responsible for supporting the HRM in developing a culture of trust, people development, and employee wellbeing. The HR Officer will coach Managers to build their management capabilities in line with company processes, legal compliance, and ethical practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Induction and post-start date onboarding of new starters, collaborating with the Welfare and Training Officer to ensure completion of Modern Slavery Worker Interview templates as per ABP UK's Modern Slavery statement.
2. Conducting Day 1, 2, and 3 onboarding checks, following up with relevant Managers on issues that arise.
3. Managing ABP Langport's Probation Review process, including associated admin and actions, such as end of probation letters.
4. Updating Success Factors, Payroll, and Central Payroll with new starter and leaver records; managing the holiday system.
5. Implementing reward and recognition initiatives on site, including Employee of the Month, the Loyalty Scheme, and supporting the Annual Awards event.
6. Coordinating with Payroll on wages queries.
7. Providing timely advice and support to Line Managers on HR issues, including guidance and paperwork for disciplinary, grievance, appeals, flexible working, performance management, welfare issues, and maternity/paternity requests.
8. Managing daily short-term and long-term absence processes, welfare meetings, investigations, disciplinaries, and the AWOL process, in collaboration with departmental managers, H&S, and Occupational Health.
9. Supporting CSR events and social/charity activities on site.
10. Assisting with the implementation of HR and L&D strategies on site.
11. Adopting a continuous improvement approach.
12. Generating data reports for departments as required.
13. Attending JTMs and weekly HR calls in the HRM's absence.
14. Performing any other reasonable tasks requested by the HRM.
15. Taking ownership of personal Continuous Professional Development.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, busy environment in a similar role. They should possess great interpersonal skills, integrity, and an approachable attitude. The ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across all levels is essential, along with influencing skills and providing ethical, evidence-based perspectives to decision-making. Excellent written and spoken communication skills, high attention to detail, and accuracy are required. The candidate should be self-motivated, methodical, well-organized, and proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft Office. The ability to prioritize workload, manage time effectively, handle confidential information professionally, and demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn are also important. Teamwork skills to achieve business goals are essential.
