About the Role
The Agri‑Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is seeking an Administrative Officer (AO) to support the Animal Services Unit within the Virology Branch at the Stormont site. This is a full‑time agency position providing essential administrative and clerical support to the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing orders and invoices, maintaining accurate records, and inputting information to online databases. The role also requires flexibility to undertake additional duties as required by management within the remit of the post.
Main Duties
1. Processing purchase orders and invoices accurately and in a timely manner
2. Inputting and maintaining data on online databases and internal systems
3. Supporting day‑to‑day administrative functions within the Virology Branch
4. Handling correspondence and documentation
5. Carrying out any other reasonable administrative duties as directed by management
Essential Criteria
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
6. Education: At least two GCSEs (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English
7. Communication Skills: A good standard of verbal and written communication, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues
8. Experience: Previous experience in an administrative support role, including an element of internal or external customer support
9. IT Skills: Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams
