Summary
We are seeking to appoint a Site Manager who will be responsible for the general safety, maintenance and upkeep of the school premises and grounds, and for providing a safe, secure, clean, and warm environment for all children, staff and visitors at King Solomon High School. The post holder will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, manage site staff, coordinate maintenance schedules, and oversee facility-related projects to support a safe and effective learning environment. The successful candidate will line manage the following functions: site maintenance, health and safety, and facilities management. Additionally, will have a duty (under Health & Safety legislation) to take reasonable care for the health and safety of their own self and that of others.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Site Operations: Manage all aspects of site maintenance, from daily repairs and decoration programmes to overseeing cleaning and grounds contracts.
• Champion Health & Safety: Act as our lead for Health and Safety, managing everything from fire safety and risk assessments to contractor management and statutory compliance (Legionella, Asbestos, COSHH).
• Manage Key Projects: Oversee site improvement projects, manage contractors, and ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within budget.
• Support School Life: Provide essential logistical support for school events, exams, assemblies, and external lettings.
• Oversee Resources: Manage delegated budgets, monitor utility usage, and ensure the effective maintenance of school assets, including our minibuses.
Required Skills and Attributes
• At least 3 years' experience managing the facilities, maintenance, and health & safety of a campus or large building.
• An excellent working knowledge of H&S legislation (ideally in a school context), with relevant qualifications in First Aid and/or Health & Safety being highly desirable.
• A strong practical background, with training or sound experience in areas like general maintenance, plumbing, electrical systems, or grounds work.
• The ability to think strategically, manage conflicting priorities, and work proactively with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong IT, written, and numeracy skills for effective record-keeping and communication.
