As a Key Learning Mentor, your primary responsibility will be to support students in overcoming personal, social, and emotional barriers to learning. You will be instrumental in helping students with SEND achieve their academic goals, develop employability skills, and improve retention and progression rates.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to students with SEND, focusing on personal, social, and emotional needs.
* Help students access welfare services and ensure their retention and achievement through effective pastoral support.
* Liaise with Student Services, counseling, and financial aid, to address students' needs.
* Assist in college events such as taster days and parents' evenings.
* Deliver intervention work to personalise student learning experiences.
* Track and record student progress, attendance, and punctuality, implementing actions when necessary.
Essential Experience
* Experience working with young people and adults with SEND.
* Background in welfare, pastoral care, or safeguarding.
Skills Required
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong IT skills.
* Minimum Level 2 in literacy and numeracy.
Desirable
* Experience supporting students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) or health needs.
