Join to apply for the Senior Developer role at Hymans Robertson
At Hymans Robertson Personal Wealth (HRPW) we are passionate about improving financial wellbeing for people right across the workforce. We do this through providing client-centric guidance and advice services. Established in 2021, we work with over 30 large corporates, delivering financial coaching, wellbeing workshops, individual guidance sessions and financial planning services.
The HRPW team has grown rapidly, driven by this commitment to building smarter, scalable, and client-focused solutions. As part of our continued growth in this area, we have an opportunity for a Senior Developer to join our team.
As a Senior Developer at HRPW, you won’t just write code—you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of financial advice, creating digital solutions that directly impact how we serve our clients and grow our business.
For us, technology is not just a support function—it’s an integral part of our multidisciplinary business. Your work will directly contribute to making high-quality financial advice more efficient, more personalised, and more widely available. You will play a critical role in building the digital capabilities that allow us to scale and serve more people, ensuring technology drives our mission forward. We love learning at Hymans so you will have freedom and flexibility to look at new technology and bring your own stamp to what we are doing.
What will your role look like?
In this role you will work on a modern tech stack, tackling software and data challenges that drive our business forward. You will be instrumental in designing and delivering robust, scalable solutions within an agile, DevOps-driven environment, using the latest Microsoft and Azure technologies. Your initial focus will be on collaborating closely with a Technical Architect to develop a cutting-edge data lake for HRPW, forming the foundation for custom AI solutions that will drive team efficiencies.
Though this is a very varied role, your key responsibilities will include:
* Collaborating with our AI team on the development of custom copilot solutions for the HRPW team.
* Working alongside high-performing, highly skilled and multi-disciplinary teams in the wider firm - we work within a DevOps culture that promotes team autonomy and engineering excellence, using the latest technologies.
* Contributing to drive innovation and increase the maturity of our frameworks, integrations and automations.
* Pragmatically assess trade-offs/barriers which will emerge in the delivery of our software system.
* Leading non-functional improvement efforts (such as security and performance profiling).
* Liaising closely with the company’s data engineering expert group which aims to keep abreast of the latest developments in Azure data tooling, promoting best practice and guidance to the wider business.
If you enjoy and/or have experience of the following, we think you’ll love this opportunity:
* Passionate about technology including our chosen technology stack (Microsoft development stack, Azure Cloud computing, Data Engineering technologies) – having already worked with Azure tools or having an established background in MS SQL database technologies.
* Experience of, or an interest in learning about, AI and the development of custom copilot applications
* Self-motivated, with a drive to learn and share knowledge and focused on continuous learning and improvement, staying ahead of industry trends and best practices.
* An effective communicator and a strong team player, able to collaborate across disciplines and bring together different expertise – working effectively with developers, business stakeholders, and leadership.
* A problem solver, who takes ownership of challenges and finds practical, scalable solutions.
* Able to effectively articulate technical concepts to senior stakeholders, making complex ideas accessible and actionable.
* Confident across the entire software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing, deployment, and ongoing optimisation.
* The ability to work in a way that is aligned to our four core values of being friendly, partnering, straightforward and confident
Additionally, experience of some of the following would be beneficial – but is not a essential requirement:
* BI visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar; exposure to Python, C# and\or Angular; Microsoft Power Automate; Modelling and data science practices
* Familiarity with optimising strategies, pipeline architectures, data sets and ETL/ELT processes.
* Understanding and experience of provisioning APIs for data consumption.
A more detailed list of our requirements for this position is available within the role profile – which is available on request.
In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:
* A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
* A collaborative and supportive work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
* A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
* Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
* On site mental health and wellbeing support.
We are looking for the successful candidate to be based in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office. We offer hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments.
We are continually working to improve our inclusive culture and employ diverse talent. We therefore welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, which includes but isn’t limited to age, disability, ethnic heritage, gender, marital or civil partnership status, neurodiversity, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic background.
