The Opportunity
We're recruiting a Site Manager to lead the delivery of a new-build residential project in B7, Birmingham. You'll take pride in delivering right-first-time, lead by example, and inspire teams to achieve outstanding results safely, on programme, and within budget.
The Role
Reporting to a Contracts Manager, you'll manage day-to-day site activities from pre-start to handover, ensuring programme, cost, quality and H&S objectives are met while building strong relationships with clients, consultants, neighbours and statutory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the site team from mobilisation through to completion; attend pre-start meetings.
* Plan and manage the programme, short-term look-aheads and sequencing; track progress and KPIs.
* Maintain exemplary H&S in line with company policies: RAMS, inductions, permits, inspections, toolbox talks and incident reporting.
* Drive quality through inspections, snag control and timely sign-off.
* Coordinate materials, labour, plant and subcontractors; manage ordering, receipt and reconciliation.
* Liaise with clients, consultants and statutory bodies; support approvals and inspections.
* Contribute to commercial management with the QS/Commercial team: monitor costs, variations and value protection.
* Keep robust records (diaries, RFI registers, weekly reports); support O&M and H&S file collation.
* Uphold the Considerate Constructors Scheme; lead positive community and neighbour relations.
* Align site needs with procurement, buying and commercial teams.
* Manage environmental controls, waste and sustainability measures.
People & Team Leadership
* Provide visible leadership aligned to SWG values: safety, responsibility, quality and respect.
* Set clear roles and expectations; hold regular briefings and reviews.
* Mentor junior staff and apprentices; promote training and continuous improvement.
* Foster a high-morale, solution-focused culture with fair, proactive issue resolution.
What You'll Bring
* Proven track record managing new-build residential projects (social/affordable, supported living, key-worker or student accommodation advantageous).
* SMSTS and First Aid at Work (essential); Asbestos Awareness and Fire Marshal (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation, quality management and temporary works (TWS/TWC desirable).
* Highly organised, proactive and calm under pressure; confident with client and stakeholder engagement.
* Digital fluency (Microsoft 365 and site reporting tools).
* Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
What We Offer
* Competitive salary plus car allowance and mileage.
* 33 days' holiday (including bank holidays) and company pension scheme.
* EV salary-sacrifice scheme post-probation; funded training/certifications and clear progression.
* A supportive, family-feel culture where your leadership helps us build better.
