About the Role
We’re recruiting a Lead Data Architect to join our Technology Function at Tesco Insurance and Money Services, reporting into the Head of Data and AI Services.
* Salary: Competitive from £66400 + Annual Bonus & Benefits
* Work Level: Permanent role
* Locations: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Reigate, London or Newcastle
* Office Attendance: Hybrid – travel to the office 2 days per week
* Closing Date: 12th December 2025
Responsibilities
* Develop a strategic architecture plan: design, implement, and evolve robust and effectively aligned architecture solutions that operate within our business ecosystem.
* Prioritise data features, ensure reliable estimates, realize benefits, and monitor design activities to meet the overall architecture plan.
* Document complex "as is" and "to be" processes, describing necessary changes for migration and including analysis of "As Is" and "To Be".
* Conduct horizon scanning.
* Develop application software, analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
* Develop new applications to meet customer requirements.
* Identify business requirements using data models to support business education, research, requirements, and designs.
* Implement and provide input on the design of required security measures (information security).
* Ensure operational compliance.
* Develop and manage performance for a substantial and diverse team.
* Manage key aspects of the data management system.
Qualifications
* Subject matter expertise in Data Architecture, Data Modelling and Data Management.
* Experience managing aspects of architecture governance and contributing to data governance.
* Experience with Data & Process Mapping within a regulated organisation.
* Strong data & technical skills (IBM Infosphere Server, Datastage, SAS, COGNOS preferred).
* Leadership experience.
* Robust understanding of cloud infrastructure.
