Quality Manager – Newport, Shropshire
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join a well-established food manufacturer in Newport. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm, with an annual salary up to £50,000 (DOE). The successful candidate will lead the quality function, ensuring compliance with BRC, HACCP and other food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure on-site quality assurance processes are robust, from incoming raw materials to finished products.
* Develop, implement and continuously improve systems to maintain AA:grade BRC certification and HACCP compliance.
* Lead factory inspections to promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) through cross-functional teamwork.
* Manage non-conformance and hold procedures, ensuring effective root cause analysis and resolution.
* Oversee complaint investigations and product release processes, ensuring customer satisfaction and quality standards.
* Provide technical support for New Product Development (NPD) and collaborate with commercial teams for aligned customer communication.
Required Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years proven experience in quality management within a food manufacturing environment supplying UK retailers.
* Strong knowledge of BRC standards, HACCP (minimum level 3), and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
* HACCP Level 3 required, Level 4 desirable.
* Track record of managing audits, inspections and compliance processes.
* Excellent people management skills, with the ability to train and motivate teams.
* Proactive, customer-focused attitude and commercial awareness to drive continuous improvement.
Preferred
Fresh produce (particularly salad) experience.
