Crime Prevention Officer – Alternative Provision
Location: Multi-site across West Sussex Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Term Time Only Grade: Grade 8 Contract: Temporary to Permanent Salary: Day Rate £150-£160 (Temp), £32,597 - £35,412(FTE)
Reed Education are currently recruiting for a new role to support vulnerable young people at risk of criminal exploitation, anti-social behaviour, or becoming victims of crime. This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking team committed to safeguarding and empowering students through targeted intervention and education.
The Role
As a Crime Prevention Officer, you will:
* Design and deliver bespoke intervention programmes for individuals and groups identified through partner agency data and internal assessments.
* Work closely with a project lead to implement strategies that reduce criminal activity and improve student attendance and attainment.
* Deliver interventions primarily on-site, using the Personal Development curriculum, with occasional off-site sessions where appropriate.
* Collaborate with staff, external agencies, and families to support students in making positive choices and re-engaging with education.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a highly skilled youth worker with:
* Proven experience engaging young people with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
* A strong understanding of safeguarding and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused.
* A passion for diverting young people away from criminal activity and supporting their educational journey.
Desirable experience
* Work within youth criminal justice, social services, or the police.
* Leading intervention sessions and contributing to successful Ofsted outcomes.
Essential Criteria
* Relevant experience with Special Educational Needs, particularly SEMH.
* GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
* Strong ICT skills.
* Recent professional development relevant to the role.
* Understanding of safeguarding and reporting procedures.
