Site Manager - Wash Plant & Aggregates Operations
Location: Kirkby, Liverpool (L33)
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 per year
Overtime: £25.00 per hour
Hours: Monday - Friday 07:00 - 17:00 | Saturday 07:00 - 12:00

Responsibilities
* Site & Yard Management
o Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site, including wash plant, crushing, screening, loading, and yard activities.
o Plan and coordinate daily operations to ensure efficient material flow and maximum productivity.
o Manage site layout, stockpiles, vehicle movements, and loading operations to minimise delays and congestion.
* Hands-On Plant Operation
o Regularly operate the loading shovel to control stockpiling, vehicle loading, and yard movements.
o Maintain real-time oversight of operations while coordinating drivers, plant operators, and material priorities.
o Identify and resolve operational issues immediately to maintain productivity and safety.
o Step into operational tasks when required to prevent downtime.
* Wash Plant Coordination
o Work closely with the Wash Plant Manager to align plant output with overall site demand.
o Integrate wash plant production with yard operations, stockpiling, crushing, and screening.
o Maintain clear communication across teams to prevent bottlenecks or operational delays.
* Crushing, Screening & Production Oversight
o Supervise crushing, screening, and yard processing operations.
o Monitor production performance, plant utilisation, and material output.
o Take corrective action where performance falls below expectations.
* Leadership & Team Management
o Lead and coordinate site personnel through Supervisors and operational managers.
o Ensure all staff are properly inducted, trained, and competent in their roles.
o Allocate labour and plant resources efficiently to meet daily targets.
o Conduct performance reviews and manage underperformance where necessary.
* Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
o Maintain full responsibility for site health, safety, and environmental standards.
o Ensure compliance with RAMS, permits, company policies, and legal regulations.
o Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular site inspections.
o Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* Plant & Equipment Management
o Oversee availability, condition, and utilisation of all site machinery and equipment.
o Ensure maintenance schedules are followed for crushing, screening, and yard plant.
o Coordinate planned maintenance and downtime with operational teams.
* Quality Control
o Ensure all processed materials meet required quality and grading specifications.
o Conduct regular inspections of stockpiles and finished products.
o Address quality issues quickly through operational or maintenance adjustments.
* Reporting & Planning
o Provide regular updates to senior management on production levels, safety, and operational performance.
o Lead weekly reviews covering site safety, staffing, output, and maintenance.
o Escalate risks early and propose practical solutions.
* Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
o Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
o Drive improvements across site layout, workflow processes, and plant utilisation.
o Support the implementation of best practices across the site.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience managing aggregates, recycling, quarry, or wash plant operations.
* Strong knowledge of crushing, screening, and bulk material handling environments.
* Experience operating heavy plant, particularly loading shovels.
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing site teams and supervisors.
* Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations in industrial environments.
* Ability to lead from the front with a hands-on management approach
