There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our North London Division is looking to recruit a Senior Site Manager to join the Division’s Construction team. The site we are recruiting for is High Leigh Grange, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, EN11 8GF.
The Role
The role of Senior Site Manager, reports to the Construction Manager and is responsible for managing all aspects of a construction development site, ensuring the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective works at all times, while maintaining the highest quality of work and customer service are delivered within the given timescales. The Senior Site Manager will generally be responsible for more complex and unique schemes within the division.
Principal accountabilities of the Senior Site Manager role include:
Manage the day to day running of the development and provide clear direction to those working on the construction site regarding their responsibilities and targetsManage and implement health and safety procedures, working closely with Bellway Health and Safety Managers and ensure that that all aspects of health and safety are followed and adhered tooEnsure site presentation is maintained at the correct standard at all timesAttend external Health and Safety inspections taking corrective action to ensure any items are effectively closed out in a timely mannerCo-ordinate labour and resources on site to deliver the build programme on larger developments, and to proactively schedule in trades to ensure optimum delivery.Manage material levels on larger site to ensure the minimum amount of stock, but enough to ensure the site programme is met and all labour is efficiently employedLiaising proactively with other internal departments, externals suppliers and partners to ensure the build programme is achievedMotivate, support and manage directly employed site staff, providing toolbox talks, training, coaching, and support as required to improve performanceDeliver all aspects of production requirements in strict accordance with relevant technical and planning documentation provided and any subsequent instructions that may be necessary from time to timeFully conform to building regulations and warranty providers’ requirements (NHBC, LABC Services)Ensure that all plots are built to the highest standard of quality, complying with the NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, range specifications, and best practiceUndertaking company directed quality control procedures and inspections at the correct timings, and rectifying any defects so as not to incur additional cost, time delays to the programme, or reduction in the final qualityThoroughly inspect and ensure any remedial work is completed in advance of each NHBC key stage inspectionEnsure that the Bellway Fire policy is adhered to on siteEnsure that the Bellway Part L policy is adhered to on siteInitiating and attending plot inspections with the Local Building Inspector or NHBC, taking corrective action to ensure a minimum of RI’s/BRI’sMonitor and control the cost of production, and approving payment to contractors and trades where appropriate.Understand and work to site overhead model / site budgetsEnsure accurate production/progress returns are updated and sent to the Construction Manager and/or Construction Director as requestedEnsure that adequate site records are maintained including but not limited to Site Managers reports, labour requirements, plant, materials, site inductions and health and safety recordsWorking with sales through regular sales/build meetings to ensure a smooth and controlled delivery of homes for customersCarry out New Home demonstration Tour and other customer tours in line with the company’s customer first procedures to give a good demonstration of the home, answering any questions, and rectifying any issues before Legal Completion.Ensure that the site is compliant with Bellway customer care procedures.Support and mentor Site Managers and Assistant Site Managers to encourage career development and progression where applicableShowing a good behavioural example in all aspects of health and safety, organisation, conduct, quality of work, and professionalismExperience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
Experience of working as a Site Manager with a high volume house builderExperience of working on high value, complex and unique developments(including high-rise where applicable) would be desirableExperience of effectively managing teamsUp to date knowledge of health and safety, building legislation and current NHBC standardsQualifications and Training
GCSE Maths and English – Grade C or above (or equivalent).Valid CSCS card at Site Manager level (or equivalent).Valid SMSTS certificate.Valid First Aid certificate.Construction Management – HNC Level 4, HND Level 5 or NVQ Level 6 is desirable.Valid Scaffold Appreciation certificate would be desirableValid LOLER certificate would be desirableSkills and Aptitude
