Job Description
King & Moffatt Building Services are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join the business in a stand-alone HR role, based in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Manager to have responsibility for the operational management of the Human Resources function at King & Moffatt. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of Human Resources across the business, providing hands-on, practical HR support within a Mechanical and Electrical contract business. The successful candidate will be confident managing employee relations matters, advising managers, and making difficult, well-judged people decisions.
Responsibilities
* Act as the primary point of contact for all HR matters across the business
* Provide expert advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation
* Manage employee relations cases end-to-end, including grievances, disciplinaries, absence, and performance management
* Handle complex and sensitive HR issues, making balanced and confident decisions
* Respond to general HR queries from managers and employees in a timely and professional manner
* Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee assimilation processes
* Manage the local Apprentice and Graduate Programmes, including enhancing relationships with third-level colleges and attending careers fairs
* Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
* Promote best practice people management within a project-based workforce
* Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and EHSQ requirements
Qualifications
* Minimum of 12 months’ experience in a Human Resources Manager or equivalent HR manager position
* Significant experience working within a Human Resources generalist role
* Proven experience managing grievances, disciplinaries, and complex HR cases
* Strong working knowledge of employment legislation
* Ability to work independently in a stand-alone HR role
* Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Additional Information / Desirable Skills
* Experience within the construction or engineering sector
* Experience supporting site-based or project-driven environments
* Experience advising senior management on people matters
Given the project-based nature of the work carried out by K&M, you will be expected to work on varying sites and/or travel to varying sites across the country in the normal course of your work.
