At Mortimer House we have a large, dedicated staff team who are well regarded and commended by relatives, who trust the team to ensure their loved one is well looked after. The home is a busy and fast-paced environment where we support 16 people with Learning Disabilities, Dementia and Sensory Impairments and people with complex needs in regard to eating and drinking, mobility and emotional wellbeing. Our residents are supported to lead the care they receive and live as independently as possible. As a Cook you will provide the people we support with a varied, and exciting menu of food choices; knowing that for many people, food is a source of enjoyment and stimulation, and something to look forward to. The successful Cook will be flexible to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends. You will have great communication skills, with the ability to communicate with team members, people we support and a range of stakeholders. While experience in the sector would be desirable, it is not essential, as we will provide you with the training required to carry out your duties. As a Cook, your responsibilities will include: Safe food preparation, in line with IDDSI Textured Modified Diets guidelines. Taking into account personal choices of the people living at Mortimer House and reflecting this in the menu. Working in line with health and safety, COSHH, and food hygiene frameworks. Using commercial kitchen equipment safely in line with instructions and guidelines. Collaborative working with the Ancillary Manager, Team Members, and external teams such as Dietitians and Speech & Language Therapists. Working flexibly with a wide range of ingredients to create a variety of meals. The successful Cook will: Have completed a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety. Have knowledge around Safer Food, Better Business. Always maintain a safe and hygienic work space. Gain knowledge around IDDSI Textured Modified Diets.
