The role
The Head of People Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the People Operations function within one of our Distribution Centers (DCs) and with the potential to expand scope across multiple sites within a region of our international Fulfillment network. This role ensures alignment of HR strategies with business goals while enhancing employee experience and driving HR operational excellence. The individual will lead a team of People Operations professionals, including (Sr.) People Business Partners and People Specialists, to deliver seamless People business partnering and implement effective People programs across sites.
What you’ll do
Strategic Leadership:
1. Align the People Operations strategy and actions with HelloFresh business goals and objectives.
2. Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, providing counsel on strategic people matters such as talent management, change management, and succession planning.
3. Lead the development and implementation of flagship HR initiatives such as pay reviews, performance and talent management for the area of responsibility
Operational Excellence:
4. Oversee and ensure the seamless delivery of HR Operations according to the People Target Operating Model across the employee life cycle.
5. Serve as the escalation point for complex HR issues, partnering with other People functions and Center of Excellence teams to resolve challenges.
6. Drive the adoption and improvement of People Tech applications to enhance efficiency and user experience.
7. Lead change management initiatives, ensuring effective communication and smooth adoption across teams.
Team Leadership and Development:
8. Lead, inspire, and develop a team of People Operations professionals, including People Business Partners and People Specialists.
9. Encourage upskilling and development opportunities for People Operations representatives to ensure readiness for future challenges.
10. Serve as a role model of organizational values and HelloFresh DNA.
Collaboration and Innovation:
11. Collaborate with cross-functional People teams (e.g., People Analytics & Tech, Employee Experience) to design and implement tailored solutions.
12. Actively engage in regional and global HR projects to contribute to the organization’s success.
13. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance HR effectiveness and efficiency.
Compliance & Risk Management
14. Ensure adherence to employment law, collective agreements (where applicable), and internal People policies.
15. Mitigate HR-related risks through proactive issue management and robust governance.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
16. Use analytics to provide insights and drive decisions on workforce planning, employee engagement, and productivity improvement.
17. Design and utilize People metrics and reports to measure success and identify improvement areas.
What you’ll bring
18. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
19. Minimum 8+ years of HR experience with a focus on strategic business partnering, preferably within a scaling or tech-focused organization.
20. At least 3 years of experience managing and developing HR teams.
21. Comprehensive knowledge of labor laws and regulations across the region.
22. Proven expertise in managing HR projects across the entire employee lifecycle, including performance management, employee engagement, and talent development initiatives.
23. Skilled at building trusted relationships with senior leaders and external stakeholders (e.g., works councils, labor authorities).
24. Ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
25. Strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into HR initiatives effectively.
26. Strong ability to navigate and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
27. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.
28. Analytical mindset with a proven ability to use data to generate insights and solve complex problems.
29. Experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
30. Fluent in English; additional regional language(s) is a plus.
31. Ability to travel up to 30%
