Job Title: Weekend Cook
Location: Royal Court Care home, Cleethorpes
Hours: Saturday & Sunday 9am - 5pm and possibility of additional hours during the week (Evenings).
Reports to: Care Home Manager / Deputy Manager
Role Purpose:
To prepare, cook, and serve nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals for residents, in line with dietary requirements, individual preferences, and care home standards. The Weekend Cook plays a vital role in supporting residents' health and wellbeing through high-quality food provision.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our culinary team as a Kitchen staff/Cook. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality meals. This role involves various aspects of food preparation, cooking, and ensuring that all kitchen operations adhere to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook meals for residents, ensuring variety, nutritional value, and adherence to any special dietary needs (e.g., vegetarian, diabetic, texture-modified diets).
* Follow weekly menus and contribute ideas for seasonal or themed meals.
* Ensure all food is prep area, stored, and served in compliance with current food hygiene regulations (Food Safety Act, HACCP).
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen at all times.
* Check and record fridge, freezer, and food storage temperatures as required.
* Monitor stock levels, rotate stock appropriately, and inform management of any shortages or equipment issues.
* Work in line with the care home's policies on health & safety, infection control, and safeguarding.
* Provide a pleasant dining experience for residents, ensuring meals are presented well and served on time.
* Liaise with care staff regarding residents' individual dietary requirements or preferences.
* Support with occasional special events, celebrations, or themed food days.
Skills & Qualities Required:
* Experience as a cook or chef, ideally within a care, catering, or hospitality setting.
* Knowledge of nutritional needs for older people and/or those with medical conditions.
* Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety procedures (Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate desirable).
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Good communication skills and a caring, resident-focused approach.
* Flexibility to adapt to menu changes or last-minute dietary needs.

Pay: £12.21 per hour
