We are looking for an outstanding Chef/Cook who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference. You’ll be working 42 hours a week (across 7 days on a rota basis) at Cygnet Kenney House, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care. Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. The services provide a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health need and are now open. We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home. There are three wards at Cygnet Kenney House; Billington Ward, a 12 bed specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Baldock Ward, a 16 bed Acute service and Harben Ward, a 16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service. The PICU and Acute environments offer rapid access to care, supporting women to move quickly and safely through to the most appropriate and least restrictive setting. The mental health rehabilitation and recovery ward (level 2) supports individuals moving on from the Acute ward, as well as external referrals from other services such as secure, CAMHS, and more. Your Day-to-Day • Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals for patients, staff & visitors • Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients’ nutritional & dietary needs • Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room • Supervise kitchen staff when deputising for the Head Chef • Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations • Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures • Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations. You are • A skilled chef, preferably with experience in the care sector • The holder of a basic food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards • Polite & professional, with a positive attitude to internal & external quests at all times • An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels • Able to work on your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision Why Cygnet?
