Overview
The Cook for the Friendly Kitchen plays a vital role by overseeing, planning, preparing and cooking meals for the Burlington Community.
Responsibilities
1. Creating weekly/monthly menus ensuring all food guidelines are met
2. Prepare and serve meals on a rotation to provide a variety of well-balanced, nutritional meals
3. Keep the Kitchen and Dining areas clean
4. Clean up after meals (tables, chairs, floor and kitchen areas)
5. Assist in the storage and inventory of food and supplies
6. Maintain all equipment keeping a clean and sanitary area for food prep
7. Ensure standard food safety and sanitation procedures are taken at all times
8. Report any problems with equipment or concerns to the Corps Officers
9. Maintain high levels of service while interacting with clients, volunteers, and staff
10. Work with Corps Officers to maintain certification and permits according to city, state, ordinances
11. Maintain inventory of food
12. Current Serve Safe certificate or willing to acquire within 60 days
13. Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission
14. Recognize the spiritual needs of individuals which require referral to Corps Officers
Qualifications
1. Have a friendly and outgoing personality
2. Able to fulfill the job duties in accordance with The Salvation Army
3. Able to respect and promote The Salvation Army
4. Have a High School diploma or GED
5. Able to pass all background checks
6. Completion of KeepSAfe abuse risk management training as required by the KeepSAfe policy and assigned by the supervisor.
