The Agenda for Change Pay Award for 2026/27 is effective from 1st April 2026. Successful applicants with a start date from 1st April onwards will receive the salary as per the 2026/27 pay award.
We are seeking to recruit a lawyer in the field of employment law. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Employment Team at Legal and Risk Services (the in‑house solicitors for NHS Wales based in Cardiff) requires a full‑time solicitor, barrister or legal executive. The post holder will undertake case management of a range of employment law matters from the initial advice request, through to the issue of the ET claim, settlement or trial under appropriate supervision and subject to experience.
Experience of respondent litigation is preferred, but candidates with good knowledge and experience of employment matters will also be considered.

* Law degree and postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice (or equivalent)
* Registration with relevant professional body (e.g., SRA/CILEX/BAR)
* Relevant legal knowledge

* Experience gained through training within Employment Law

* Willing to undertake further professional development
* Able to travel to undertake the duties of the post at various locations

* Welsh language skills (levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing)
