Join a large, highly secure Defence site supporting mission-critical systems and classified environments.
We’re expanding our DevOps Automation team and are looking for engineers with strong automation, infrastructure and operational expertise to help modernise and streamline service delivery. You’ll combine software engineering and platform operations skills to automate manual processes, improve observability, and optimise the performance, resilience and security of our infrastructure.
You’ll play a key role in designing, building and maintaining scalable, secure and highly available environments, taking ownership of reliability, automation and continuous improvement across the estate.
Working within our Aerospace, Defence and Security sector, you’ll contribute to platforms that directly support national security outcomes.
This is an on-site role based in Salisbury.
What you'll be doing:
1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide operational and engineering support for a large-scale, highly secure cloud platform.
2. Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows and tooling to streamline operations and improve system efficiency.
3. Provision, configure, and optimise cloud and on-premises infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and compliance.
4. Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure platform observability and performance.
5. Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement improvements to maintain system availability and resilience.
6. Document procedures, runbooks, and automation workflows while contributing to best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring:
7. Experience with automation and configuration management tools, including Ansible, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
8. Proficiency in Windows and Linux system administration, including scripting with PowerShell, Bash, SQL, or equivalent.
9. Skilled in one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, Go, or Java.
10. Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) stack, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and Aria Automation.
11. Experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and related DevOps tooling (, GitLab).
12. Knowledge of networking, databases, system interoperability, and APIs (RESTful, Swagger), enabling integrated, secure platform solutions.
