Purpose of Role
The Quality Manager ensures that all construction activities for power generation projects comply with ISO 9001, UK regulatory standards, and project-specific quality requirements. This role involves developing and implementing Quality Management Systems (QMS), conducting audits, supporting progress management and driving continuous improvement across complex engineering and construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement the Project Quality Plan and associated procedures.
* Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee quality assurance and quality control activities across civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
* Have a specific capability and understanding of welding processes and associated quality control.
* Establish and execute risk‑based audit schedules (internal and external).
* Conduct inspections and manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and energy sector standards.
* Liaise with EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineer, and regulatory bodies.
* Communicate quality objectives and performance metrics to project teams.
* Support supply chain quality planning and review deliverables.
* Lead investigations into quality issues and implement root cause analysis.
* Identify lessons learned and integrate them into future projects.
* Maintain accurate quality records and prepare monthly quality reports.
* Ensure document control processes are followed for traceability.
* Coordinate third‑party audits and inspections.
Skills & Qualifications
* Extensive experience in quality management within power generation or large infrastructure projects.
* Extensive knowledge of PED, ASME, TUV and other industrial standards.
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and UK construction standards.
* SMSTS or NEBOSH certification; CSCS card.
* A high level of computer literacy.
* Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
