Out of Hours Site Manager

Based at our Head Office in Bamber Bridge, the Out of Hours Site Manager oversees site operations, directing and organising site activities to ensure the planned work is delivered safely and on time. The role monitors performance against recognised standards of productivity, quality and compliance with essential health and safety provisions.

Hours

60 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 4pm‑4am with a 30‑minute paid break)


Salary

£17.83 per hour (overtime paid at time and a half)


Responsibilities

* Carry out daily planning ensuring all shifts are fulfilled and that the correct number of operatives are on shifts and available to complete all necessary works.
* Ensure all planning boards are kept up to date and added to the planning group.
* Produce rotas to allow operatives and managers to understand their shift requirements for each week, ensuring these are visible to the management team through Microsoft Teams.
* Maintain accurate records of operative training and ID cards, booking renewals before expiry.
* Ensure operatives have appropriate vehicles, equipment, stores and skills to perform allocated work.
* Submit accurate records into the sales sheet for works completed each day, ensuring all information is correct and within budget.
* Ensure all timesheets are submitted within the timescales set by payroll.
* Manage day‑to‑day HR queries, updating the HR system and following company policy.
* Sign and collect all drivers’ hours sheets weekly, ensuring they are correct and handed to the Transport Manager.
* Assess and develop the competencies of all operatives through the competency programme.
* Perform weekly fleet and plant checks, ensuring maintenance is carried out and calibrated on time.
* Report any vehicle or equipment damage or breakdowns to the correct managers and book them in the Hive system.
* Ensure company vehicle drivers adhere to policy, providing coaching or disciplinary action where required.
* Complete all risk assessments, near‑misses and lift and calibration documents for each job and vehicle.
* Conduct detailed site visits to verify data for scheduling and client briefing.
* Liaise with the Scheduling team to run through works issued for the evening.
* Coordinate with subcontractors on the contract and liaise with customers, clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.
* Perform quality on‑site assessment checks (8 audits per month).
* Oversee site setups for over‑pumping, mitigation and tankering according to company safety systems.
* Comply with relevant HSEQ and welfare policy provisions.
* Attend managerial meetings and training as required outside normal hours.
* Collaborate with Recruitment to vet and interview potential candidates for the role.


Experience, Skills and Competencies

* Valid driver’s licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
* Proven experience leading a delivery team, motivating and developing staff.
* Ability to manage a budget.
* Computer literate.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of finance tasks (capital, revenue, cash‑flow, overheads).
* Professional communication skills with external parties such as clients, customers and local authorities.
* Confidence in supervising and coordinating site tasks.
* Problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and sound decision‑making ability.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation.
* In‑depth knowledge of street works regulations.
* IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
