Job Description:
Job Purpose: To assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in all activities related to the preparation and cooking of meals. Team participation is essential to provide an efficient, hygienic service, achieve customer satisfaction, and promote sales within the unit.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform skilled cooking activities, including menu preparation, portion control, and preparing special dietary and function meals.
2. Assist with record keeping, hygiene, health and safety control (including temperature recording), and supervise other employees as needed.
3. Manage operational control of service points, including transported meals.
4. Handle administrative duties such as meal planning, stock-taking, organizing stores and deliveries, managing the kitchen in the absence of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor, training staff, and cash handling if applicable.
5. Perform general kitchen duties such as washing, setting up/clearing equipment, and cleaning.
6. Promote the service to parents, principals, and customers to increase uptake.
7. Secure premises when necessary.
8. Perform delegated duties related to service provision.
