Job Summary:
The Head of Estates plays a critical leadership role in delivering strategic, compliant, and value-driven estates and facilities management across the NIAS estate. Reporting at senior level, the post holder will support the development and implementation of Estates, Facilities, Asset Management, and Capital Build strategies in alignment with operational and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the delivery of a fit-for-purpose Estates Strategy ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation
* Oversee facilities management functions, including planned/reactive maintenance, risk management, and service improvement
* Develop and manage contracts and SLAs for estates services and capital projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and value
* Drive the Capital Build Programme, delivering projects on time, within budget, and to regulatory standards
* Lead Asset Management strategy including acquisitions, disposals, lease management, and condition surveys
* Ensure effective budget, procurement, and performance management, aligning resources with NIAS priorities
* Represent Estates in internal/external forums and lead on sensitive staffing matters and organisational initiatives
Essential Criteria:
* Minimum 3 years’ senior-level experience in Estates, Health & Safety, Governance, and Compliance within a complex organisation
* Proven experience managing statutory and regulatory portfolios and briefing senior stakeholders
* Relevant professional qualification or 5+ years in a senior estates role
* Chartered membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., IHEEM, IWFM, RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, or as a Chartered Architect or Engineer)
* Valid UK driving licence or approved transport arrangement
