Coleridge Cottage can be considered the birthplace of English Romanticism, with both Coleridge and his friend William Wordsworth inspired by the village and natural landscape around Nether Stowey and the Quantocks. Coleridge Cottage is a small property made up of the paid for entry site, tea room, garden and small shop. Coleridge is currently open 3 days a week. Next door is a 3 bedroom cottage used as the key rep accommodation. You’ll be reporting to the General Manager, leading a small team comprising of a Service Team member and volunteers to safely operate Coleridge Cottage for our visitors and ensure they get the most out of their visit. Day to day, you’ll be responsible for planning and running the on-site operations here to deliver a wonderful day out for our visitors. This includes general visitors, groups and community participants. You’ll work closely with the General Manager, Visitor Experience and Operations Manager and Community, Volunteering & Participation Coordinator for the Property Group to reach and grow our audiences and help drive the offer forwards and grow income. As well as providing an immersive experience through the day to day offer, there is the opportunity to work with Property Group colleagues to explore relevant programming and to develop our work with community groups. You’ll be line managing a Service Team Member, and be Volunteer Manager for a passionate volunteer team, ensuring everyone feels welcome on site. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of presentation throughout the site, including collections care, cleaning and interpretation, supported by the Property Group’s Collections & House team. You will also work closely with the Property Group’s Head Gardener to ensure the garden is well maintained and presented. You’ll be responsible for working with the Property Group’s Facilities and Business Services team to identify maintenance requirements and to supervise maintenance work and compliance activities, organising access and making sure our work systems are always safe.
