We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH secondary school in Bolton for a dedicated Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop positive behaviours, confidence and resilience.
The Role:
Supporting students with SEMH needs both in the classroom and through targeted interventions
Working 1:1 and in small groups to support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement
Building trusted, consistent relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour
Supporting pupils during moments of dysregulation and helping them re-engage with learning
Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual plans
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
Promoting positive behaviour, attendance and social development
The Ideal Candidate:
DBS on the Update Service (essential)
Available full time and committed to a long-term placement
Proven experience supporting young people with SEMH needs
Calm, patient and highly resilient in challenging situations
Confident managing behaviour and de-escalating conflict
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Experience in SEMH schools, PRUs, alternative provision, youth work or care settings is highly desirable
