Duties & Responsibilities
The ideal person for this awesome opportunity will be an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental professional with a zealous interest in growing his/her career in renewable energy to provide oversight of the health, safety and environmental aspects of the facilities’ operation and maintenance (O&M) activities.
Prime Responsibilities:
* Plan, manage & conduct ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 internal andexternal audits
* Implement, fulfill and follow up the Company’s goals and objectives and the Prevention Action Plan (PAP)
* Manage and lead the team, in coordination with the rest of the project team and under the hierarchy of the International H&S Manager
* Ensure the enforcement of, review, update, and promote H&S policies and procedures
* Conduct health and safety inspections and audits
* Develop strategic plans for addressing high-risk areas
* Carry out inspections and control risks on site
* Review audit findings
* Follow up and approve the contractor’s safety plans
* Identify potential hazards and major incidents
* Implement and follow up the Company’s Health and Safety standards and Management System
* Ensure the suitability of all documentation, registers, and safety files
* Be the intermediary with the client and administration in all H&S related matters
* Verify all employees have the required certification and training
* Ensure that all H&S measures and precautions are strictly considered and taken care of during the execution of all activities to avoid bad habits in each activity that might lead to health and safety incidents.
* Take preventative and corrective action to resolve non-conformance
* Conduct incident and accident investigations
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of the H&S staff on the plants.
* Ensure and enforce compliance with applicable legal requirements.
* Liaise and maintain a positive relationship with the relevant authorities.
* Maintain the plant Emergency Preparedness and Response procedures in line with the plant risk profiles and ensure regular training and emergency drills are performed and improvement actions are implemented and monitored.
* Manage medical services.
* Control the H&S department costs and resources
Desired Experience & Qualification
* Minimum Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Ergonomics, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry etc.
* At least 5 years HSEQexperience in a similar position in a large power generation plant, oil & gas, petrochemical, or construction.
* Valid Drivers License – Code EB.
* A clear criminal record is an inherent requirement of this position. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a comprehensive criminal background check.
* Experience in leading continuous improvement activities.
* Possesses strong leadership skills and abilities, including effective influencing, excellent communication skills, (verbal, written, listening), and facilitation skills.
* Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills
* Highly proactive and self-motivated.
* Leadership, team spirit, communication and influencing skills.
* Must be able to work with a multi-national team with different languages, habits, and cultures.
